Terminator 6 Is Starting Filming Later Than Expected
The Terminator franchise has had a rough time over the last decade. Both 2009's Terminator Salvation and 2015's Terminator Genisys failed to launch trilogies, but hopefully the old adage "The third time's the charm" can apply to the killer robot-filled series of films. The yet-to-be-officially-titled Terminator 6 marks a new beginning for this franchise, and like all the movies before it aside from Salvation (though his likeness was reproduced), Arnold Schwarzenegger will once again be appearing onscreen. While Schwarzenegger previously said that Terminator 6 would begin filming this month, the actor has now stated that the production will kick off in June. As he explained:
We are starting to shoot Terminator 6 in June to the middle of October, so I am in that. I am looking forward to coming back as the T-800 model. It's gonna be great with Tim Miller as the director and Jim Cameron is kind of supervising the whole thing.
Arnold Schwarzenegger provided this update while speaking with The Arnold Fans about his upcoming projects, which also include The Expendables 4, Triplets and King Conan. Sometimes a production being delayed can spell bad news for a movie, but Terminator 6 holding off on rolling cameras for another three months shouldn't be looked at as something disastrous, especially if it results in a better overall product. That said, Terminator 6 is expected to come out in June of next year, but because production has been pushed back a little bit, that might translate to the release being pushed back a little bit as well.
Rather than follow up on Terminator Genisys' events, Terminator 6 will instead serve only as a direct sequel to The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Along with Arnold Schwarzenegger once again playing the T-800 (though it's been suggested we may learn why that Terminator model was given that particular face and accent), Linda Hamilton, who made a vocal cameo in Terminator Salvation, will reprise Sarah Connor. Behind the camera, the combination of Deadpool's Tim Miller directing and James Cameron supervising after more than two decades away from the franchise he created ideally translates in Terminator 6 having a better shot at success than its immediate predecessors. No plot details for the upcoming movie have been revealed yet, though when it comes to most Terminator stories, it's a safe bet that it will involve a cybernetic assassin being sent from the future.
Terminator 6 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 26, 2019, though as mentioned earlier, it's possible that because of the production delay, it will be moved further down the calendar and become a fall or winter release. For movies that are coming out a little sooner, you can find release date information in our 2018 premiere guide.

With Triplets expected to begin filming in 2017, Terminator 6 will likely be the next big name production that the 1980s action star will turn his attention to next. On that note, here's to hoping for the very best as Schwarzenegger, Cameron, Ellison, and Miller begin work in earnest on the new Terminator trilogy later next year.

The Terminator is a science fiction film, crossed with the action thriller. It was initially expected to do little better than a science-fiction B movie, but ended up inaugurating a new micro-genre: tech noir, named after the nightclub where Sarah Connor first encounters the killing machine and begins her date with destiny.

Almeria was very much looking forward to a return of Schwarzenegger to the province for filming and it was presumed he would turn up to the shoot but it doesn't look like it's happening and we are now starting to think Schwarzenegger will join the shoot possibly much later on than expected.
