Zoe Saldana Remembered Anton Yelchin On What Would Have Been His 29th Birthday

It has been almost two years since actor Anton Yelchin tragically passed away after a freak vehicular accident. The young actor was perhaps best known for his fun and endearing portrayal of Pavel Chekov in the three films in the rebooted Star Trek universe. The actor who left us too soon is in the hearts and minds of many this week as one of his final films, Thoroughbreds, opened in theaters this past weekend. Also, the actor's 29th birthday would have been March 11th and with that in mind, Anton Yelchin's Star Trek co-star Zoe Saldana took to social media to remember her departed crewmate and friend. All the feels.

It is always difficult to put into words how you feel about the loss of someone and sometimes it is just better to keep it simple and that's what Zoe Saldana does here in her post. This Twitter picture just feels authentic and candid and you can really get a sense of the camaraderie and friendship among Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho and Anton Yelchin, these actors who all shared the screen together for three films. The strength of the cast and their dynamic has been one of the highlights of these new Star Trek films and part of what has made them successful (critically anyway). You can see how the actors who portrayed the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise seem to have cared as much about one another as their characters did. Two years after his death, Zoe Saldana assures that Anton Yelchin will not be forgotten and he will continue to be remembered and celebrated by all those whose lives he touched.

Like many prolific artists, the work of Anton Yelchin has stretched long past his tragically short life. In the Netflix animated series Trollhunters, Anton Yelchin's voice has brought life to main character Jim for two seasons, despite the fact that the show didn't even premiere until after his death. Creator Guillermo del Toro was adamant that the actor's performance remain in the series and two seasons later the popular show has introduced many young audiences to the actor's work. With Thoroughbreds now in theaters, audiences will also get to see Anton Yelchin on the big screen once more in a film that has garnered positive reviews.

As far as the future of Star Trek is concerned, Producer J.J. Abrams has also spoken in the past that when the eventual Star Trek 4 materializes, the role of Chekov will not be recast as there is no replacing Anton Yelchin in the role. The character will be written out in some other way. This is a respectful way to handle things for this iteration of the long-running franchise; plus, things may soon take a wildly different turn with Quentin Tarantino potentially playing a role in the series' future. DCs Shazam Trailer Is Exciting And Hilarious

Shazam, previously known as Captain Marvel, has been around since the Golden Age of Comics; at one point, he was arguably more popular than Superman! Now, after decades of appearances on the printed page, TV shows and video games, the World's Mightiest Mortal is finally making his live action theatrical debut next year, and straight out of San Diego Comic-Con, the first Shazam! trailer has arrived. Take a look, below!

Inspired by Shazam's New 52 origin story, Shazam! sees Billy Batson (Asher Angel) joining a foster family, as his parents died when he was five. Among the members of this family are Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer), who looks like he'll be one of the main sources of comedic relief in the movie. But more importantly, this preview shows us Billy taking the first steps on his superhero journey, as what he believed would be a normal subway ride turns instead brings him before the mysterious Wizard. Upon saying the Wzard's name (you guessed it, it's Shazam), Billy is transformed into a mighty, costumed adult (Zachary Levi) with a wide variety of superpowers. That's where things take a more amusing turn.

Even though it's set in the DC Extended Universe, Shazam! definitely feels much different than its predecessors. Upon finding Freddy and convincing him who he is, the Shazam-ified Billy starts testing out his powers with Freddy's help. Super strength is relatively easy to use, but he still needs to get the hang of flight and conjuring electricity. Still, being a superhero is a dream many kids have, so for Billy, this is the ultimate wish fulfillment. He gets to beat up common criminals and enjoy snacks afterwards!

But as is the case with every superhero movie, eventually a super villain comes in. Originally the plan was for Shazam to fight Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) in his first movie, but the Kahndaqian anti-hero's introduction is now being saved for his own movie. Instead, Shazam will clash with Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong), who is usually depicted in the comics as being extremely intelligent, but physically weak. Not so in Shazam!, because as this trailer shows, the DCEU's Sivana can easily catch one of our intrepid hero's punches. It looks like Sivana will be also be a physical threat, and if that eye of his is any indication, like his New 52 counterpart, he's also capable of seeing magic. So yeah, being a superhero won't be quite as easy as Billy initially assumed.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! will works its magic in theaters on April 5, 2019, so stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more updates about the movie. Most of the negative reviews I've read are hilarious because lots want dc and marvel to different but want the same light hearted jokes and fun like marvel. Complaints like bvs needed more fun and someone didn't quip or crack a joke or smile making it not fun. The tone won't change and it shouldn't. Keep Snyder.

What The Obi-Wan Kenobi Movie Will Reportedly Be About

It seems like every day we learn more and more about a movie that we're not even 100% sure actually exists, but now we have rumors of an actual plot attached to the equally rumored Obi-Wan Kenobi movie. While Lucasfilm has yet to let the world into their plans post-Episode IX, rumors have continued to swirl that not only do they have a plan, they've already begun pre-production on a Star Wars Story spinoff film about the life of Obi-Wan Kenobi that would be set between the original and prequel trilogies. While none of this has been confirmed, it's now being reported that a production bulletin that includes a plot synopsis has leaked, which claims the new film will see Obi-Wan Kenobi be forced to come out of hiding when tensions between local farmers and a tribe of Tusken Raiders, led by a ruthless war chief, rise to a breaking point.

While all of this, from the plot synopsis revealed by TMZ to the existence of the movie itself, needs to be treated as rumor until such time as it's been confirmed by Lucasfilm, a lot of rumors about this particular project seem to be coming out of the word work, and there aren't a lot of rumors about any other Star Wars movie being planned for 2020. Unless we think Star Wars is actually going to take a year off, and I certainly don't believe that, the studio has to be in the early stages of working on something and this makes as much sense as anything.

While many of the rumors, like a planned start to filming, are generally vague, others, like this plot, and even the film's potential director, Stephen Daldry, are quite specific. That certainly gives them the feel of legitimacy. The only fact that we really have is that Ewan McGregor is more than willing to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and he's currently the perfect age to play the role mid-trilogy.

The plot suggested here certainly works as far as it goes. It would allow for the character of Obi-Wan Kenobi to get involved in a situation that would have plenty of action and tension, without it being on the level of the whole Rebel vs. Imperial fight. It wouldn't make sense from the perspective of the larger Star Wars universe for Obi-Wan to draw too much attention to himself since he's supposed to be hiding, but a local skirmish on the planet furthest from the bright center of the universe would be just about right.

One of the more important pieces of information that has not yet been rumored, is who wrote this synopsis. If there's a general plot outline, somebody had to create it, and that person is likely working on a script right now, assuming it hasn't already been completed. It's a pretty key detail that has surprisingly remained uncovered, assuming any of this actually true.
