Jake Gyllenhaal Says His Spider-Man Mysterio Suit Is Incredible, With Many Secrets
The first Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer just premiered at Brazil Comic-Con. Sadly, only those who were there get to see it for now, with Sony/Marvel holding back on the online release. However, the stars in attendance teased a lot of interesting details about the characters. Jake Gyllenhaal is joining the film as the mysterious Mysterio, and apparently his suit -- like Gretchen Wieners' hair -- will be full of secrets. Here's what Gyllenhall said:
It was incredible, the suit is an incredible suit, and there are a lot of different secrets in the suit that I think are really cool. So there are a lot of things revealed about that suit.
Jake Gyllenhaal shared his suit teases via a Spider-Man: Far From Home panel. Collider was there, and said the trailer ends with a shot of Gyllenhaal as Mysterio in the suit.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-Man) both shared more funny details about the suit in a video interview with Omelete. Here's scoop on the unexpected disco setting of Mysterio's suit:
Jake Gyllenhaal: It lights up.Tom Holland: Sometimes the lights don't light up the right way, they go disco colors.Jake: There actually was one day when they all just started going different colors. And I can't see the lights [from within the suit.]Tom: So you're doing a scene with him...Jake: ... and everyone would start looking at me like...Tom: ... ugh, it's so bright!Jake: The coolest thing about the suit is that there are some major secrets in it, and that are pretty cool.Tom: Totally.
It sounds like Spider-Man: Far From Home is going to go out of its way to surprise us. Not only does Mysterio's suit have secrets, Mysterio himself is already throwing us for a loop. It was revealed via the actors at this Comic-Con that Mysterio -- presumed to be the villain -- was actually hired by Nick Fury and works with Peter Parker.
Tom Holland revealed that his stealth suit -- which he calls "the comfy suit" was designed by Nick Fury, although he wouldn't explain what it was designed to do "because it's a secret." (Finally, Tom Holland has learned to stop spoiling.) However, he added some teases on his own new suit:
It's really cool, it has all sorts of cool little features. For me as an actor, it was really interesting to try and figure out how Spider-Man would move and act in such different attire.
Jacob Batalon, who plays Peter Parker's best friend Ned, shared more details on the plot of Spider-Man: Far From Home:
It's basically just about the kids going on a European vacation. We go to London, we go to Prague, we go everywhere. And it's just a really fun thing. There's a lot of dynamics that go on, like a lot of relationship stuff, a lot of cool funny stuff, and fun stunt stuff. The main focus is for [Peter] not to be Spider-Man, per se. But he gets dragged into it. He reluctantly saves the world again with Mysterio. Mysterio is a good guy in this. They're both teaming up to kill it -- kill the game. To defeat all these Elementals monsters.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will eventually release a trailer to the rest of us. For now, we have to wait. The Sony/Marvel film will open July 5, 2019. Here are more amazing movies to look forward to in 2019.
